What To Do When You Don’t Like Your Job.

Feeling like you’re stuck in a rut with your job?

We all have good days and bad days at work. But sometimes, the bad days overtake the good and we end up dreading heading out the door and into the office. It would be great if we lived in a world where everyone loved their jobs every day of the week, but unfortunately that’s just not the way the cookie crumbles!

But what should you do if you really don’t like your job? Today on the blog we discuss a few things you can do when you’re not enjoying yourself at work before deciding to go ahead and quit.

If you hate your job – talk it out.

We know this can be tricky, especially if you don’t feel like you can approach your manager. But as we all know, a problem shared is a problem halved. They will appreciate your honesty, and this should open up a discussion about your role in the team and any problems and concerns you may have. It may be that they hadn’t noticed you weren’t happy. If you don’t share your problems, there won’t be any solutions. See what your manager can do for you. In an ideal world, they’ll do what it takes to keep you where you are.

Switch up your routine!

Go into work every day and do the same thing in the same order? Almost like you could do it with your eyes closed? Why not switch it up? Doing the same tasks over and over in the same order can become quite tedious. Why not do what you’d do at 2pm, at 9am? Why not do what you’d normally do at 10am at 3pm? Give yourself some variety, switch it up where you can! Ask if you can change your shift patterns, or take your breaks at different times. Little changes might make a big difference!

Check Yourself!

We’re all partial to having a moan sometimes. Especially if our day isn’t going to plan. Have you ever considered that you might be part of the problem – making mountains out of mole hills? Are you the one who makes you hate your job? Take a step back and realise what it really is about your job that makes you hate it. Is it the way YOU are going about your daily tasks? Maybe YOU are causing yourself more problems than you really need to. Are YOU complaining about stuff that is YOUR fault? Maybe. Check yourself before you complain to others about how much you’re hating your job – it might be you!

See what’s out there.

You’ll know in your heart of hearts whether it’s time to leave your job or not. If you hate your job, there is no harm in seeing what’s out there. Your dream job might just be waiting on you! It might be time for a change, so why not do a few job searches? Just don’t quit your regular job until you have definitely bagged yourself something new!
